Sump Pump!

Information

  • Most of the waterproofing installations require a sump pump. In most cases the pump motor itself is a 1/3 or 1/2 horsepower motor. Capable of discharging up to 1750 gallons of water per hour.

  • The location of the sump pump crock is usually in an inconspicuous corner of the home. Located near a downspout (storm sewer). This allows the water around the foundation to exit the home quickly.

Lets take a look!

What you are seeing here is the open crock. You can see the blue motor in the center, and the drain tiles that come into the side of the crock. There is also a check valve installed in the discharge line.

The crock itself is perforated and surrounded by #57 washed gravel to allow a positive flow of water into the crock.

Lets see some more

You can now see the lid on the crock. You will also notice the clamps on the discharge line and the dedicated electrical outlet.

After the sump pump passes inspection, the concrete floor is poured over the washed gravel, to bring the basement floor back to its original state.
